The establishment of the Faculty of Automation, Computers, Electrical Engineering and Electronics is an evolution that began in 1990, with the creation of the Faculty Naval Architecture and Electrical Engineering, which at that time was teaching long and short-term studies, preparing specialists in the fields of: naval architecture, electric, electronic engineering and automatic control.

Due to the fact that electrical, electronic, automation and computer science education was predominant and, to a great extent, disjointed to naval education, in October 2002 the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Electrical Engineering was divided into two new faculties: the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Faculty of Naval Architecture.

The fields of study of the new Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, long-term studies at that time, were: Computers and Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering.

In 2004, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was divided into two distinct faculties: the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

The Faculty of Automation, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, as it is known today, was founded in 2010 by merging the Faculty of Computer Science with the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and bringing together the electrical and electronic specialties with automation and computer science. The birth certificate was sanctioned by Government Decision HG. no. 631 of 30/06/2010, published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I, no. 578 of 16/08/2010.
